Ok, so I've had the P0420 code since buying my car and have 1 month until the state of MD officially revokes my registration due to emissions failure. So I am getting the maganflow universal cat instead of direct-bolt-on.So here comes the retard question. First reference this photo (courtesy of joatmon on GenVibe forums): I would have the exhaust shop weld this cat to replace the "CC#1" in the photo right? I would think replacing the one behind the O2 would be completely pointless, and honestly I'm considering having the shop just remove that peice too and replace it with straight piping. So did you guys have one or both replaced when you used universal cats?
I replaced my cat at about 110K miles with an OEM one, and now I'm a little over double that (238K miles) and have been getting an occaisional P0420 start popping up again, so keep us posted on what you decide to have done.
