To hold more weight? This thing goes to '25 lbs.' and they do make some that go up to 40, but they are not as comfortable (narrower), VERY BORING, and the same price I paid for this one. The fabric is almost touching the floor with her in it, so I put a towel under it, having mercy on the poor tortured seams. I love this thing as much as she does (if not more) because she sleeps for HOURS in it, it's so entertaining (toy bar...not shown in these pics; it goes in the holes on the sides shown in the first pic) and don't want to/can't buy another one
Do you have a pic from the side? I'd start with making a triangular brace on the steel where the green corners are. You could also put a rod or spring between the top and the floor.
Make sure I understand correctly, it's the fabric and not the frame that is about to its breaking point? If it's the fabric, I assume the top comes off for washing. If so can you weave some ducktape around the frame like they do on some of those patio chairs? At least in the spots that need it. Are you a member of a local Freecycle.org group?I've seen a lot of baby items offered in our local group. Good luck!
I'm not quite sure what it is you are trying to accomplish either? No offense intended but I don't think you're being very clear? What is it that you're breaking your toes on, and is that the problem? The frame is too long? Perhaps a picture with her in it would help?BTW: Your house/apartment looks VERY clean.

I've seen these things bend quite a bit... especially when baby starts geting big!!!Some sort of brace is needed! I'd suggest a small piece of steel grooved and attached at one of those points. Although I'm sure some ABS pipe or a brick will work!
What I'm trying to do is extend the life of our beloved (best baby item I ever bought) bouncer which has a weight limit of 25 lbs. and she is very close-if not over. When she sits in it I can see the seams pulling and the bottom is almost touching the ground.
Best thing you could do Hon, to make more support, would be to get something heavy and round (large dowel from the hardware) and place it in the bends down by the feet... The dowels would have to be fixed in such a way that they kept contact with the bend or it wouldn't be doing the job... Even something over-sized would help, opening the overall angle off the floor, before she get's in it.. I don't know if it would be a good idea to try, but simply opening up the bend on the spring there, might work... Try bending the chair into a more upright position... it would look more upright, till she was laying in it... it's called pre-load..

(Um, sounds like a Bra add.. )

If you reinforce part of the frame, by triangulating that "v" in the front lower leg for example, you will be adding stress to the rest of it and it could break. My guess would be right behind the repair.Case in point (automotive related of course): By adding rubber blocks or spacers to a coil spring that's sagging, you put more stress on the rest of the untethered coils and they will begin to sag more and more quickly as time goes on. True experienced story, and not so different from the spring steel frame of the chair. But really, your daughter is only 6 months old and already she is outgrowing this springy chair. How much more time could you realistically get out of it anyway? At the rate she's growing my guess would be maybe another month?

Perhaps, but then it won't bounce which I'm sure is what lulls the child. I know I like my rockin' chair when I'm sittin' on the porch and have had a bad day.
