Tire suggestion

Post by redchicago »

I need to get 2 new tires for my 07 vibe soon. A friend recommended Tirerack.com. Money is tight right now and since my front tires are in good shape (newer than the rear tires), my mechanic suggested I get 2 new tires, have the front tires moved to the rear tires, and have the 2 new tires installed in front.I think the tires I currently have on the front are Yokohama Avid Touring- S tires. I was thinking of trying to getting 2 new ones from tirerack for $82 each. Shipping will cost me an additional $23 and and the mount fee for the new tires will be about $20/$25 tire. I save on tax since I'm out-of-state.If you include the mounting and shipping in the price for the tire, the tires come to @116/piece. Does this seem like a decent deal?I really know nothing about tires, so I'm not sure how the yokohama's compare to tires at sam's club. I have a membership to Sam's, so going there for my tires and installation is an alternative option. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would call the Sam's Club tire dept. and ask if they have or can order those tires and what the price with mount, balance, and install would be.If I remember correctly, they re-balance and rotate the tires for free.Regardless, politely remind the installer to tighten the lug nuts to 76 foot pounds torque.
