Ok. Here is the "surprise" I was telling everyone about in my other thread. I know everyone has been wondering what it is so here you go. It is an Acculaser dashboard kit. It is a 5 piece set that is extremely well made and fit perfect. They go right over your stock pieces. It was very easy to install. It is a big change on the interior. It has to be the most visual change I have made as of yet. Everyone knows what the stock ones look like, so I won't bother with a before and after shot.Pic 1

Looks awesome Triton!I have a question though: Since they just stick on over the old molding, how much does it raise the height of the molding? I've considered getting the stick-over dash kits, but right now am waiting for an actual OEM-style replacement set. Would be nice if I could find a brushed metal one too ... that would look sooo nice
Since they are on top of your stock panels, they do stick up a small amount. Not enought to affect anything though. It is a little different feeling when you press the power lock button, but not that big of a difference.

I didn't think we could replace our ebrake cover. It has a weird angle to it. If somebody has done it let me know how you did it. I've tried it already. He also should look at a wheelskin leather upgrade for his sterring wheel or a new steering wheel. That would look nice
I have thought about both of those mods in the future, but I like the stock steering wheel. And you're right about the e-brake. Momo does not have one that is listed to fit a Toyota and I don't know if I can find another one a really like.

I already have a bright red reflective steering wheel overlay. Maybe I should switch it to dark blue reflective. I do like the red a lot. What do you think?

WHat was the price of the kit for your Vibe? That really looks wonderful! I would like one in carbon or gun metal etc since I have a Shadow Vibe.Shadow Realm
Abyss Monotone GT, 6 speed, Moon & Tunes, Power Group, and 16" Alloys. Soon you can see my Vibe GT at Shadowrealm's car pics but for now it is under construction!
Keep with your color scheme Aluminum and blue. the red will stick out like a sore thumb. If you do a wheelskin cover you can do a dark grey leather with blue stiching. That woould be a nice touch of blue without the overkill. They can also cut the leather so that the blue is only on the top, top and bottom and the the rest in grey leather. That is why I like them so much. I also have a link for a company that will refinish your steering wheel. You overnight it to them, the'll cut out a portion of the steering wheel and add a color insert or real carbon fiber and laquer it to the wheel diameter. This is expensive and you'll be without a steering wheel for a week or two...... just a thought.
OK I found this buy going to the link I just gave you. This is a replacement airpag cover for the Matrix/Vibe sterring wheel. They will also have one for the passenger side airbag door. This is a cool way to add color to the steering wheel. on $75. not bad.
That might be a little too much for me, but thanks for the great post. Maybe in the future. I like having the bright red reflective Pontiac arrow overlay on the steering wheel. It kind of goes with all the dash lights. I am seriously thinking about changing it over to dark blue reflective though.

I think that would look pretty good with the blue overlay on the steering wheel. Thanks for the info on the kit TritonGT.Shadow Realm

quote:The price for the 5 piece set was $160. It is excellent quality, fit and look. Well worth it! First - Just let me say that I think this mod looks great in your car.Second - I am a cheapskate. 160 is too much for me when a can of KRYLON, or plastic paint will work for me. That of course involves much more work, and probly wont turn out so nice first time.

Triton- your interiot looks awesome! I have been thinking of getting a red one but I am not sure if it would be too much red. The Metalic Blue looks really good on your vibe. Cant wait to see it in person.

quote:Those look awesome. Do you know if you can take them off easily? First of all, thank you for the compliment! As far as taking them off, I don't think it would be very easy. They use a double sided tape from 3M that once set would be very hard to remove. When I was putting on the piece over the radio, it started to stick before I was ready along the bottom. I didn't think I was going to be able to get it off without destroying the piece. I did after slowly working it. WHEW! I was really nervous about that. But, everything turned out fine. If you are going to do this, be sure you never want to remove it. It would be like painting them. If you could remove the paint, the stock ones would look like crap afterwards.

That of course involves much more work, and probly wont turn out so nice first time. I painted my interior red using the Fusion red. It doesn't hold up so well. I had to sand all the parts to make sure the paint would adhere to the plastic. I then primered it (I would recommend white or black primer for smoother look), wet sanded that and then applied about 3 coats of paint. You definitely want to wait an hour between coats or it'll bubble up and you have to sand the whole thing! I waited until the next day and the clear coated everything in another couple layers. Here's a pic of the final interior.
Nice job trdvibe! The red looks good in there. I think anything you do with the dash makes your Vibe really look unique. You should see how many people try to pull up beside me when I have my windows down. It's kind of funny. They just want a closer look.

I also installed graphite leather seats with red inserts. I may look to find a better red that matches the leather since it's easier and cheaper to make that match than replacing the leather. I like how Triton's blue is so metallic. I think I saw some nice looking metallic red paint at Walmart I may have to try. Here's a pic showing the drivers seat installed next to the factory passenger seat. I think it makes a big difference.
yeah, it's funny. I had the dash apart after 2 days of having the car. I took it in to the dealership to get the front bumper repainted from the windstorm a few months ago. He asked me if they came that way? Triton, hope you don't mind, but I had to order those door sills and the tuner foot pedals off that link. I went the cheap route and got the clearance red/carbon pedals.

yes. I have to install the rear seats still and am not sure on the door inserts. They look a little more difficult to put together since you have to break all the plastic fasteners. I may have someone else do that for me.
I paid a grand total of $730 when all is said and done, including the UPS 2-day air shipping costs ($60). I'm installing them myself and the kit was like $50 or so. Well worth the money.
That's a great price. I just contacted ATD about the choices of leather. I would like to do something in a dark gray and blue leather. I think that would look pretty cool.

For those of you that want to be creative, Gemico custom makes dask kits for any care. all you need to do is make a mold of the intrior pieces and send it in to them. They have 45 colors, woods, metals to choose from. were is their link. www.gemico.net I've seen their kits before. Very impressive. Especially their flex metal kits. P.S. The Vibe/Matrix are not on the application chart, but it is avaiable as a flat dask kit. The MSRP is $375 (according to a local tint shop)and is a simialr kit to the 38 piece kit that is avaiable on ebay from time to time by trimking
I've also seen exotic wood dash makes custom replacement parts too. I don't know if they have any for the Vibe or Matrix, but when I was looking for one for my Tundra, they were pretty expensive. I can't remember their site. I think its www.exoticwooddash.com. Try it and see.
