EPA sued over 15% ethanol rule

"Bloomberg reports that the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the American Petroleum Institute and other groups have filed a lawsuit against the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), challenging its decision “to allow more corn-based ethanol in gasoline.” The various groups maintain that “EPA lacked the authority to make the decision and will result in higher food costs.”Hooray!!!!I wonder if the automakers will join or at least file an amicus (friend of the court) brief.

WASHINGTON Nov 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will delay a decision that was expected in December on whether gasoline blended with up to 15 percent ethanol is safe to use in vehicles built during the 2001 to 2006 model years, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday.The EPA wants up to one more month of testing on the effects of the so-called E15 gasoline on vehicle engines, according to the source, who did not want to be identified. The agency may announce as soon as Friday that it will delay its decision on E15 in older vehicles, the source said. (Reporting by Tom Doggett)
