Folding mirrors possible for 2006?

Post by salsagrrl »

Hi all. This is my first post. I'm a new (only two weeks) owner of a used 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I *love* it. I had it two days (during which time I had brakes done, tranny serviced and compression tested) and then drove it over 5,000 kms/3,000 miles over a 5-day period. Only cost me $240 in gas (!) using A/C almost constantly for the pups and it was a pleasure to drive even fully loaded! Finally ... my question: I brought the car to Mexico where I will be living. It's a 'sport' here to punch off mirrors, and someone has already punched mine, cracking the plastic and it's not a little loose where it connects to the body. Plus it's a small colonial town (read, narrow cobblestone streets) where you often have to fold in your mirror to avoid losing it as your inch past the vehicle coming the opposite way. I need to find mirrors that will fold in. Currently the mirrors I have are those plastic one-piece things -- all the same color as the car. Will I be able to change out these mirrors for ones I can fold in? Any help or tips would be most appreciated!(Coincidentally, I just looked up my paint color here and it is .... salsa! How appropriate. :D)I really appreciate all the information on this forum, which I found and spent hours reading yesterday, and will thank you in advance for any help!Gracias.

Welcome! They don't make a direct fit mirror that folds. You would have to custom fit them.

Thanks Keith! Can you expand on what you mean by custom fit? Just had a look through your 'garage' (kewl) -- looks like you might have a creative solution or two?
