Not sure exactly where to post this, so I thought I'd do it here and on the "Exterior" board. My rear driver's side door WILL NOT open. A little back-story: I bought my 2003 vibe GT (completely manual - transmission, locks, windows, etc.) used in 2004 with only one previous owner. Well, they had installed after market power locks and an alarm system which has broken the lock latches on the interior handles twice. (the first time was in the first four months I owned the car - dealership replaced all of them for free, as it was still under warranty. And, the second time was just a couple of months after that, and I was too lazy to go back in to get it fixed... I know, I know...) luckily the alarm still works, so I know that should anyone decide to just open up the doors the alarm should at least deter them.Since then, none of the locks on my car have worked with the after market power locks, with the exception of the hatch. the front doors both still lock with the key, the rear passenger door doesn't lock but still opens, and the rear driver's side door is completely stuck shut it doesn't lock or unlock. Not sure what I can do now, short of cutting open the door panel and replacing it... Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
update! I got the door open! I pulled and pried open the door panel WITH the door SHUT. Holy moly. I hadn't open that door in about 5-ish YEARS... The hinges are still nice and tight! haha. SO, if anyone needs to know how to do that, haha, I can help! New issue: now I need replacement interior door handles... What had happened was the metal hooks from the door lock cable and the actuator had broken the plastic off of the back of the black/red lock switch. Actually, can I just get new plastic switches?
