Interesting history and discussion of safety technology. Also an inflation adjusted cost comparison of the new Cruze to a 1994 Cavalier.1994 Cavalier - somewher around $12,0002011 Cruze - $16,995 ($11,553 in 1994 dollars). My recollection is that my 1994 Toyota Camry LE cost $18,995 after discounts; the 2011 has been advertised here recently for $18,995 after discounts/rebate.A 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan is advertised at $19,995 after discounts/rebates. I think a similarly equipped 1996 was that much.

...according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics "Inflation Calculator," here's what $12K in 1994 would be today (9/2010):1994 = $12,000.002010 = $17,677.09...that's a 47% increase just due to inflation.
