I am a fully recovered Snap-On addict. My evil indulgence included 2 torque wrenches, IM510 gun, all the sockets, roll cab, oh I was bad, but a mortgage cured me of my "shopping" addiction real quick and I sold it all *sniff* The beeping from the Snap-On truck backing up is permanently etched in my brain, though...I was like Pavlov's dog when I heard it

I prefer the adjustable "click" type. You have to be careful with these to reset it to zero after every use to help maintain accuracy and not stretch out the spring from continued tension. No money? Get a solid beam type at a garage sale. Plenty accurate just not fancy. Use that until you have the funds to upgrade to a better click or digital unit.I have old Craftsman beam types in both foot and inch measurement.I have a newer foot pound click wrench as well.I could go into the metallurgy of fasteners and how lousy of a tightness measurement torque really is when you really want to measure the stretch of a fastener. Tightening a nut onto a stud or bolt is simply creating tension, much like stretching a rubber band, with the stud / bolt striving to return to it's original length thus squeezing in the process. This is why they developed the torque angle measurement but even that depends upon torque as a beginning point. There are new washers out that measure stretch but they are infrequently used. I'll save you the boredom of me rambling and stop here.Dave

I have Harbor Freight click-stop torque wrenches. I know they are not the best quality, but they are accurate and inexpensive. I would rather have Craftsman or Snap-On but the funds are not available for those.

Though I've never heard of Harbor Freight or Princess (must be a N.A. thing) I saw this and remembered the name from this thread. http://www.harborfreightusa.co...c.jpg
