I just saw that Toyota recalled 2005-2008 Corollas and Matrix with the 1zz-fe engine. The Recall is for the "engine control module".......Has anyone heard what Pontiac is going to do?

WHOOP The AWD slips under the radar again. no acceleration issues as we use DBC (cable) and not DBW! And no recall unless you are a Two Wheel Drive. The value of my AWD keeps going up and up!Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s): TOYOTA / COROLLA 2005-2008 TOYOTA / MATRIX 2005-2008 Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION Mfr's Report Date: AUG 26, 2010 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 10V384000 N/ANHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Potential Number of Units Affected: 1290413 Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2008 COROLLA AND COROLLA MATRIX VEHICLES. THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) FOR THE SUBJECT MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE 1ZZ-FE ENGINE AND TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE PRODUCTION NUMBER OF THE ECM AND REPLACE THE ECM IF NECESSARY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. TOYOTA WILL MAIL AN INTERIM OWNER NOTIFICATION THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER 2010 TO ADVISE OWNERS OF THIS DEFECT AND RECALL. THIS INTERIM NOTIFICATION WILL INFORM OWNERS THAT THEY WILL RECEIVE A FUTURE NOTIFICATION WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE TO HAVE THE FREE REMEDY PERFORMED ON THEIR VEHICLE. A SCHEDULE HAS NOT BEEN SET FOR THE FUTURE NOTIFICATIONS. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331. Thanks! I have a 2 wheel drive 2005. Question: I had my Drive Train Control module replaced when it failed last year at no cost. Is this Engine Control Module a different item?

Is this Engine Control Module a different item? I have the same question (2 wheel drive 2007), I've got CEL P2716 and had PCM module (their words) replaced under warranty (they stated in the invoice: p/n 19205289 F-module). I guess it's different module now has to be replaced under recall?

I know that GM constantly changes part numbers, they call it a supersession.I don't know if this is considered part of the powertrain to qualify for the 5 yr /100k warranty but it should. If not, I came within two months of having to pay for this repair. I intend to get it replaced again under the recall since the part I got may be of the same batch that is failing.

different manufacture name the same part differently. Toyota call it Engine Control Module, GM term is Powertrain control module.. but it is the same thing
Have a 2007 Vibe and put info of our happenings in the "Tech Info & Do-It-Yourself" Forum. Our PCM was replaced on 23 Sep. 2010 in warr. The New part no. shown on our invoice is 19205290.
My car staled out on me twice this morning, and the check engine light came on for the first time. I got it down to the dealership and they are going to replace the PCM.
