How do you know if you have the C59 or C60 transaxle?

Post by mntn-biker »

As the topic says, How do you know if you have the C59 or C60 transaxle? I am replacing my 5 speed with a 6 speed (from a Corolla) and am looking to drain and refill the replacement tranny with Mobil 1 SAE 75W-90 GL-5 gear oil and see that the repair manual capacity states:C59 1.9l/2.0qtsC60 2.3l/2.4qtsThe manual says the housing is stamped near the top with the C59 or C60 but all I can find is a 7 or 8 digit number (can't remember offhand) but nothing that says C59 or C60.Anyone know if possibly the C59 is the 5 speed and the C60 is the 6 speed?????????Just looking to findout upfront if I buy 1 or 2 qts of the gear oil. Thanks - MikeON EDIT: I did some Googling:C59 = 5 speed MTC60 = 6 speed MT
