head lights not working

Post by aus510 »

recently the head lights on my 2004 vibe stopped working so we took it into a shop where they replaced the drl control module, which fixed the problem for a while. after a couple of months i was out driving at night and noticed the headlights aren't working again. the running lights and the fog lights work, but not the headlights or the brights. i don't know if the drl has burnt out again or what, and i wanted to see if any one else has ever had this problem before i go out and pay a couple hundred dollars to try and fix it.

Welcome to GenVibe!!! Check the obvious fuses and relays first!

if the fog lights work then the car thinks the headlights are on. usually, people have low beam filaments burn out and have high beams still work. Its possible you have bad headlight bulbs, but having all four filaments burn out at the same time is not likely. There's a main headlight fuse inthe engine compartment fuse block, that would affect both the high and low beams. in the same fuse block there's also a headlight relay, that also affects both hi and low beams. In the same fuse block, looks like the dimmer relay (for high beams) is the same as the headlight relay, so you could try swapping thsoe two relays to see if makes any difference. DRL modiule failures aren't common, so a second one in the sme car seems unlikely, unless there is an undetected problem in your car thats killing DRL modules somehow.

thank you for replyingone of the first things i did was check the fuses that i could find, we switched the main headlight relay with a different one that we know works and the lights still did not work. i might have missed one of the fuses though, so i'll have to check that tomorrow when i see my car.

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I am having the same problem with my vibe. I just ordered a DRL Module online but it hasn't come in yet. Just wanted to know if I should be looking at something else if this didn't fix your problem.
