I noticed that on the pasenger side, the front of my hood sat a little lower than the top of the fender. Not enough to really be visible, but noticeable, especially when washing/waxing. I found that it's really easy to adjust. There are rubber posts at the front corners on the underside of the hood, and these are actually big screws. I just unscrewed the one about a turn and a half, and now it's a perfect fit. After finding other things that weren't easily adjustable (like the clutch to start switch), I was glad this one was easy.
Yea, I've noticed several things on my vibe that just needed a little more adjusting to be perfect. Passenger wiper, A/C damper, etc.. Don't know who to blame, though. Did Toyota workers assemble the Vibes, or did Pontiac workers working in a toyota plant assember the Vibes? Whomever did, they could improve a little bit on their final quality control inspections. Since all these things had to be installed once, there's really no reason they couldn's have been installed just right. Sloppy, hurried work, no doubt.KSNeptune
They were built at NUMMI by NUMMI employees. NUMMI is a GM/Toyota joint venture plant in California, run under the Toyota production system by American workers. You can be sure they are all very busy jobs with no time to finesse their work. QC should catch these things, but they're very busy too no doubt. No excuses though.
quote:How did you adjust the clutch to start switch?See http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1533 What I did was take my special quarter ( http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3266) and just taped it to the back of the clutch pedal arm. Been there for about 10K miles, and last time I checked, there was no wear on the tape. I may end up taking it off and bending the tab on the pedal arm, but probably won't mess with it unless it acts up again and that seemed an appropriate thing to do with that quarter.
My brother and cousin works at Nummi and they have to fulfill a quota on how many cars they have to do. I've seen him point out what he does on the vibes we see, but he tells me that it's long and repetitive so they don't take their time with it.
