HI guys.First things: Nice site!!I'm new here...I want to buy a new car, and Vibe is one of my first choice.I spotted a nice 2003 automatic AWD.... can you told me what is the con about those AWD, I presumed that gas mlleage is lower on those 4x4.Is these cost more on maintenance?etc. This is an automatic AWD with sunroof, A/C, Cruise Control, Nav System, powered window, etc. Thanks
Don't really have the info you are looking for, but welcome to the site...I'm sure members much more knowledgeable about AWD than I will be along shortly.

The gas mileage is all in how you drive. Many of us AWDer's have experienced MPG in the mid 30's (highway). I don't feel that the AWD has a con. It is a great all around car. Get snows for winter and you'll enjoy a better driver than most other cars.
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
2 CONS of the AWD1) Can't lock the AWD2) Can't get a stick shift with the AWD modelBut it sounds like that Vibe is quite loaded. How much do they want for it?
I'm always in traffic so I prefered automatic.$6995 CDN with 165000 KM It's a lot for the age of the car, but all others are about the same price with less equipment. My choice of car is limited by my "gabarit' (*size). I allready have an 2002 Intrepid and a 2000 Echo. Suprisingly, when I comute from my home the my work, i prefer using the Echo cause it's easier for me to slide in. That why I'm looking for a high roof car like the Echo but with a little more confort. I don't like drive truck or van, the choice is limitedMy Intrepid is great for holliday and long ride, but in town the echo is a better choice.I think Vibe is a good choice for me.I tried the Suzuki Aerio, size is ok , very easy for me to drive it, but these a car didn't have enough power an are very noisy.I allready tried a nice 2004 Chevrolet Epica, fully loaded, low milaege at a very good price, and very suitable for me, but I didn't know anything about is reliability. $4200 with only 96000 KmMy last two are VIBE and Epica. Tommorow I have to choose.Sorry for my bad writing, I usually speak french.
Get the Vibe! (not that we're biased here but) That's a good price and as long as it's had all the regular maintenance done and the underside isn't rusting itself to pieces you sould be very happy with it!!!
I finnaly found my car.It is a nice and clean 2003 white base VIBE all equipped including sunroof.I'm happy with my choice. It's not an AWD but I saved $2000, and this one is nicer.Have to wait couple of days to have it cause, bank give some trouble giving me my cash.

Just for you (and all other 2003 owners) I've attached an older Consumer Reports article on the Vibe. I also posted it on the "Frosty White "thread. Enjoy & get involved. You already passed the first test ........ POSTING PICS !!!
