Struts Anyone?

Post by engine1 »

I am looking for replacement struts( or cartridges ) and shocks for the base model. I have a set of Eibach springs p/n 8272-140, if anyone is using these are you also using a different strut if so what kind? I'm not going to put the springs until I find some because as anyone who is familiar with the industry, O.E.M. ride control incorporates a comfort based strut; and with all the fresh ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings it produces a comfortable ride with a tight, quick reacting suspension. With the new springs reacting quicker and with more force, the O.E.M. struts and shocks will wear very quickly, and I don't want to shell out for labour twice; even if I do it my self I will still have to get an alignment each time to be safe. I am a sales rep for an aftermarket parts wholesaler and so far I have run into alot of " we're still working on the tooling" and other statements like that from some companies and was just wondering if anyone had some or knew of any part numbers. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am also waiting to purchase a set of springs until I can get my hands on a decent set of struts also. As far as I know, there are no aftermarket companies currently making struts for the Vibe/Matrix. (yet) I hope we see some nice stiff struts out on the market soon!

Tein makes some nice ones that you can adjust the dampning. But they are expensive.
