Hey All! New to the site but I was part of the G35 community. Sold my 2005 coupe because it was killing me on the MPG and after months of research I bought a 2009 vibe for a killer price! So far so good, I'll post a picture of it if I can figure out how. I love love love the black paint on the 09's, it has a wonderful sparkle to it ( 3 stage paint? ) so it doesn't just look flat black. The vibe is still under powertrain warranty but I have some issues I wanted to ask right away about: - It pulls to the left on acceleration and very very slightly under just normal driving. - The exhaust rattles and shutters on start up and idle just after starting. Sometimes in reverse too. Are these things I should have my dealer try to look at under warranty?
First and foremost - WELCOME TO GENVIBE!Quote, originally posted by th3w33k3nd »I have some issues I wanted to ask right away about: - It pulls to the left on acceleration and very very slightly under just normal driving. This is likely torque steer due to the Vibe being front wheel drive. The G35 didn't do this because it is rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive cars pull to the left on hard acceleration due to the "right hand rule" - when the wheels turn, the torque applies a force that is perpendicular to the rotational plane. Use your right hand to curl your fingers in the direction of the rotation of the tires and your thumb will point in the direction of the resultant. This happens on rear wheel drive cars, but is much less noticeable due to the rear wheels being fixed (don't turn the car).Long story short, this is normal given the powertrain configuration.Quote, originally posted by th3w33k3nd »I have some issues I wanted to ask right away about: - The exhaust rattles and shutters on start up and idle just after starting. There is an off chance it could be a baffle, but its unlikely.

Thanks for the welcomes! Trying to get pictures up, but I'm loving the vibe so far! This black paint is really killer =PI'll have the dealer look at the issue, and its good to hear you say its probably something minor... Nothing is worse than buying a car and having to worry about it being in bad shape =/
Welcome to Genvibe!!! The new Vibes also pull side to side on rutted roads.Which Vibe did you get??? 1.8, 2.4, AWD, stick or slush, new or used, mileage???
G35 Coupe... very, very nice. 3.5L motor an evolution of one of the best motors developed by Nissan... it's like forceful mechanical Butter. The cost is fuel consumption. What a change to an '09 Vibe! But, as most will attest to here, a tool of a car that does a lot of things well. Way more on the pedestrian side compared to the G35... but if you can handle the change... it will serve you well. Suspension is basic, but does the job of holding the corners of the car up... and is fairly resposive on a twisty road... for a tall-ish car. That the car is relatively light also helps a lot. One thing for sure, the '09-'10s have slightly more refined underpinings than the first generation '03-'08 Vibes.Vibe fuel mileage is outstanding for the class. What you actually achieve depends directly on how you drive, where you drive, and which motor/trasmission combination you have. The exhaust system noises should be easily fixed. Welcome to the Vibe forum of forums (and to the world of front wheel drive torque steer, too!)! We all look forward to seeing some pictures of your Vibe. We are picture junkies.
