2009 Vibe Audio Questions (Replacing M&T AMP)

Post by joshuaeb09 »

Hi, I'm kind of sure most of this has been answered else were i just wanted to get all the info in one place and to verify it works for an 09. I just got an 09 Vibe GT with the Moons and Tunes or what ever its called and after looking around in the car i see that the factory amp is where I'd like to mount my amp and i wanted to know : (Also Will be keeping stock HU, as Im trying to make my install as stealthy as possible and i like my steering wheel controls, XM, Onstar)1. If this diagram is accurate for a 2009 Vibe http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...o.gif2. Opinions on replacing the factory AMP with my old school RF amp I think its MFG Date is 97 its only 40W RMSx4 @4, So i would like to retain all the factory speaker wiring, except power of course)3. Speaker Mounting Depth in the 09, It looks like they are low enough to not interfere with the window but I've been wrong in the past.4. Any info on taking off the Door panels would be helpful and the panels in the cargo area.5. Will the factory sub still work if i replace the Amp? I don't know if it has a separate AMP (I am holding off on this, plan to reuse factory Sub box with some modifications)I have done some high end installs in the past, but i am unfamiliar with the Vibe and I really dont want to go all out, I'd like to retain the stock look and just put in some decent components that will be complemented by that amp. I will also be sound deadening the f*** out of it.Any info/links/suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks Guys, Josh

I can't answer all your questions but I can a few I think. The front door speakers are low enough so as to not interfere with the windows. I have the PA 6501 components (these are not the shallow ones) that everyone talks about on here.As far as replacing your radio. With alot of after market radios you can still keep your steering wheel controls, XM and onstar. I have a box that came with my radio that allows me to keep the onstar.I believe papacueball(thinks that is his name) replaced his factory sub. I think there are some good pics of the job on here if that is the direction you are heading in.Depending on the speakers you get for the doors 40w X4 may under power them. Im running a 600 Watt bridged to my front doors right now.

Thanks for your response, the main reason I want to keep the factory HU is that in my area of town alot of people like to steal radios even if you take the faceplate off, and thats why i was wondering if the diagram holds true for the 09 Vibe M&T, Also 40W RMS @ 4 is plenty if you are using the right speakers. I'm probably gonna bride it to 160W x 2 @ 4 ohms. I also saw the post about modding the sub box and will probably go the route.
