Cubby Question

Post by bckersey »

The cubby in my Vibe that is below the shifter pops open all the time. Not just when I hit a bump. It even happens sometimes when i am sitting in my car and not moving. Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Make sure you haven't overstuffed it so that the closing mechanism is blocked and can't hold it shut. Also, try lifting it out and reinserting it to make sure it sits right. If all else fails, next dealer visit have them look at it -- worse comes to worse, they replace it for ya under warranty.

one of my friends from school has that problem with his vibe. He bought a demo model so he kinda figured that someone hit it really hard or something. I believe the dealer fixed it for him.

I have noticed that the latch doesn't hold it very good. I have to make sure I close it a litte firm. I don't have anything in mine but if it kept coming open, I would definately have the dealer fix it.

Mine is hard to open too. Have to push button and pry open with my fingernail-so I just leave it open!

I have the exact same problem with my Matrix. I have long legs and when I rest my right leg against the center console, POP, the cubby pops open. BTW, the only thing in my cubby is air. It happens so easily that I just leave it open. I tried using thin magnets but they dont have enough hold to keep the spring back. I'm going to try and find a more permanent solution. It's only a very minor annoyance really. The car otherwise is perfect.

Mine falls open on it's own overnight -- it's always open every morning. It will also come open every 5 to 10 minutes while driving. Here is a fix that I saw over on matrixowners.com. I haven't tried it yet myself.http://www.matrixowners.com/modules.php ... light=foam
