Polk DB651 (shallow mount) speaker review

Post by cptnsolo77 »

Finally purchased a pair these for the fronts from Cruthfeild. All I can say is that these speakers are well worth it! Glad that I went with Crutchfeild with the purchase because it came with speaker wire harness that made install super easy. The polks sound crystal clear & REALLY woke up my stereo! I have a M&T setup with the factory HU and still running the factory rear speakers. The Polks do have bass, unlike some reviews I have read on Crutchfeild. Looking forward to pickup a pair for the rears as well. Really amazed at the clarity & depth of these speakers. The surrounds on my factory speakers were totally shot. Pieces of foam was just falling off. This was a LATE x-mas gift to myself LOL.

Excellent! Thanks for the review. I was looking into getting some new shallow mount 6-1/2" speakers

Did you happen to take any pics of your install?

Sorry I didnt take any pics. It was sooo hot out I just wanted to finish LOL. I have to say its been almost a week & the Polks sound awesome. It actually sounds like I have a quality stereo. I did have to turn down the treble a bit. On some CDs the highs can be piercing LOL. I did lose some bass with the Polks (gained depth & clarity), but since im running the stock speakers in the rear, it makes up for it. The bass is perfect for me cause im not the type of person that needs glass shattering bass. If you turn it up, it WILL thump....but if your used to having a monster sub in your hatch you cant compare. Hey its a 6 1/2 speaker lol. I have purchased Pioneer, Blaupunt & Kenwood before & these are the best speakers I have ever owned hands down.
