Switching to synthetic?

Post by BrettZ »

My Vibe is an '05 with 55,000km on it. Its had conventional oil in it since day one. Is it safe to switch to synthentic or would I be risking leaks and consumption?

You'll be fine! This argument has been debated many many times here and the best benifit I see is "how using synthetic makes you feel"!Personally, I feel much better using synthetic then conventional oil. It gives me peace of mind. The pro's and con's aside, my peace of mind is the most important!I generally use Mobil 1 5w20 but the next change will be to Toyota 0w20.

I've looked up a few posts on the topic. I was just thinking about how the switch would affect the oil. I've heard on higher mileage cars you can get leaks by switching to synthetic.I agree the peace of mind is worth the extra cost. Just picked up some M1 5w20 aswell

I dont know about Full Synthetics, but most of the oils you see branded "for Higher Mileage engines" normally defining those as more than 75k miles( high my ***) are Synthetic blends, Valvoline's Max Life for example.
