MY plans:-Replace plugs with NGK Coppers & index them for better throttle response-use my celica's CAI on this car, pretty sure it fits since its the same engine bay almost-either 1.5" lowering springs & new struts, or a full coilover kit-Billet grille, maybe-get foglights for it, since they were torn out-35% (md street legal) tint all around-swap my stereo over to it-roof rack deletes, still have to research this one further-disable DRLMAYBE PLANS:-bodykit, not sure what, haven't seen too many for the 05+ bodystyle-Taillights (if they exist, haven't seen any)-HID kit
You won't find any good looking body kits just the crappy one on ebay. You also won't find any aftermarket tails for it, and no matrix ones won't fit. Only option is to smoke them if you like that.Welcome and nice frosty
2010 Vibe & member of the yeargarage Email me if you need to talk to me, click my siggy and send the email threw the contact page.
yea i hate the amber on the taillights, otherwise i wouldn't mind them. I doubt i'll tint them though. The ebay kit looks OK but probably no ground clearance if I lowered my car with it installed. Lowering will come first anyways & cars always look 10x better lowered
Looks nice. I've got a lot of family in Maryland. They're trying to get me to come up in July but I have a GenVibe meet in Indy to attend! Nice to see yet another purty white hatchback on here
Welcome! Good find. I used to live in Gambrills - in the red house on Annapolis Rd/175 at the front corner of the big practice field in front of Arundel High (across from Carole Ave). But that was many a year ago Anyway, still go out to MD every year and what I have noticed is the lack of Vibes. I can spend and entire two week vacation out there and not see a single one. I used to have a '02 2.5RS with Pirelli P1's that I put on the Vibe just to see how they would fit. They fit but the offset wasn't quite right and they didn't really sit on there as well as I hoped. Took them off after only a month or so. Doesn't mean your WRX rims won't work, only one way to find out.
'09 Mazda5 Grand Touring'04 Vibe - M&T, Power Package, Protection Package
Update: got done last night:-Installed some NGK 6593 copper plugs and indexed them to the intake side of the engine, omfg much better throttle response & feels more responsive when cruising on the hwy now.-mounted Subaru wheels to car, no more vibrations at higher speeds! yay-Debadged entire car, no more "VIBE" logo-Replaced rear wiper & Front wipers w/bosch icons-polished headlights to brand-new condition-replaced headlight bulbs w/osram silverstars that i had leftover from my focus-replaced 3 LED's in my radios display with radio shack ones per instructions on this site! WORKS GREAT!-removed steering wheel, scrubbed nasty crap off of it & removed the pontiac logo. Sanded it & painted it all black, looks better than it did before!-cleaned interior to like-new condition almost, trunk area doesn't want to be clean but its plastic so who caresPlans for tonight:-change its oil & trans fluid, maybe coolant but doubt i'll have timeOrdered foglights & rear cargo cover thing for it. LOwering springs are high priority as is window tint (35% planned).I DO HAVE PICTURES, posting them tonight w00t
Quote, originally posted by shaeet »-Debadged entire car, no more "VIBE" logoDon't throw them away. I can paint them and hook someone up on here with em
UPDATE: -Changed oil..still sounds like a diesel when cold though-drained & replaced tranny fluid with dexron IV. I will probably use it temporarily while i source the "T-IV" fluid that is supposed to be used, but the trans shifts way smoother & the car idles normally now when i stop at lights in gear-replaced rear O2 sensor, light came back on anyways. I reset ECU this morning before commute to work & it hasn't come on yet STUPID P0420 CODE!-cleaned MAF with some carb cleaner & q-tip, dunno if it helped or not-bought stereo install kit & harness, gonna install that stuff tonight w/some alpine type-s components & coaxials I happened to have leftover from my other cars.suspensions is on the way & if i get it before this weekend it'll be installed this weekend, but if not, next weekend. Gonna find a plcae to tint the windows too before it gets overly sunny & hot outside
GG car might be totalled!some lady rear-ended me on the 14th street bridge in DC going like 90...i saw it coming & nudged over to the left a bit figuring she'd avoid me (there was a shoulder on the right too!) but NOPE she SMASHES into the right-rear of my car, sending my rear airborne & i nearly lost control & hit the left barrier overlooking the patapsco river! Somehow the car still drives fine though..the hatch opens, but the rear bumper is totally f'ked and the frame is bent beween the bumper & rear wheel. The hatch is bent somewhat too and the rear 1/4 has a slight crease. The insurance might write off the car b/c of the frame damage, i guess i'll have to wait. Either way it drives fine & i don't care much...it doesn't look THAT bad..and i'll take the check & get a bodykit or something, assuming it'll fit lol.
DAMN!!! Good to see that you're fine.... (and her car took the brunt of it)!!! Insurance is on your side, hope it all works out!(I'll save the women drivers comment for someone else...)
Quote, originally posted by star_deceiver »(I'll save the women drivers comment for someone else...)lol...i'll take this one 8)...and I'll leave it at that.lolanyways, really sucks but I gotta say, I've earned recently from other threads like this that the Vibe will take a hit like no other...Proud to be drivin this thing.
another update:bought a header for the car but i don't plan on installing it immediately like the springs.I might change up my body plans significantly. I might get the GM kit & a used rear bumper in white & install it all. Also might just source another rear hatch b/c it'll be cheaper than trying to do body work & paint work on the one i got. I might do a panda paint job too, we'll see. i always wanted to do one, but not sure how it'll look on the vibe b/c of the odd fender line near the front.
panda idea...everything painted black above the arrows, black rims, tint, black grille. not sure if i'll do anything w/the hood or not, maybe the middle of it black but side white? not surealso not sure if i should go with gloss black or a satin/flatish black.
HOLY ****!Her car is TOTALLY messed up. I would be pissed if that happened to mine. Don't give in. Make them fix it back to 100%. Why should you have to live with a messed up ride because the lady couldn't drive?Maybe if she hadn't left the kitchen this wouldn't have happened. LOL I just HAD to.
I lowered the car with S-Techs & tokico shocks, i still gotta snap a pic.Oh and check this shlt out! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...55721 hehehe..i do body work and plan on fixing the car myself, I might buy a new hatch instead of try to fix it b/c bondo would crack off after slamming it shut a few times & its easier to just swap a hatch from a wrecked car. Gonna install the kit myself & paint it with the paint supplies I used to paint 3 cars in the past with, just gotta buy a new air compressor b/c the one i have is crapping out & can't handle the air supply needed.MORE TO COME
nope, i'm in germany until october right now for work..can't really get pix.and i have the emblems...a copule of them got a little melted b/c of the heat gun I used but I have some good ones too. I have more than 1 cars worth of emblems too b/c I bought a rear hatch when i got rearended & debadged it.
If you'd like any painted like I did my emblem in my engine bay, I'd be glad to do a couple for you if I could have an emlem or two...when you get back of course.
UPDATE AGAIN:I'm back from Germany now..and of course immediately did stuff to the car. Made a f'kton of money off that trip & used some on the car.List of stuff I never mentioned before I left:-bought a used gray bumper from Dave Hawkins in PA, needs painted-bought a silver hatch from a GT from Dave to replace my bent up one, needs painted.-Got leather steering wheel from an XRS and the toyota emblem from its airbag...put both of those on, nice touch!-35% window tint all around..looks much better now.Stuff I've done since getting back:-Replaced radio with one I've had for ages that plays MP3's. -Replaced front speakers with Alpine type S components, got the tweeter mirror covers from Dave also and mounted them up there.-Replaced rear speakers with some polk momo's I took off my Celica, sounds awesome-Lowered car with Tokico Blues & Eibach S-lines, pain in the *** to source those and paid a ton of money for them (they were used) but they ride much better than the S-TEchs since they are PROGRESSIVE RATE-Got 17" tC rims and all 4 tires balanced perfectly. No more shakes on the highway!Car still has rearend damage that I need to repair. Been lazy and the car drives fine. IT also has about 10,000 bird sh1tz on it and little purple berry explosions all over the paintwork since it was parked under a tree for 4 months while I was in Stuttgart. I gotta buff the crap out of the bodywork now which I might do this weekend.
So today I spent the day buffing the f'k out of the paintwork. I've never encountered such stubborn stains. THe stupid red berries were insane to get off. I used my Harbor Freight buffer with some Meguiar's step1 "Paint Cleaner" and a spray bottle of water to keep the mop from drying out and overheating. I removed all of the bigger splats & a lot of little black bits of crap that were attached to the paint. Car looks way nicer now and the rims are gleaming too.Photo right before trick-or-treaters started coming out. So help me god if someone eggs it tonight I will murder them. You can see my suby sleeping in the garage behind the Vibe. Also notice the grinded up tree stump. A 50ft tree was removed yesterday which is why I wanted to immediately polish the paintwork...no more birds crapping on my car & berries ruining the white finish!
rear shot...i was able to buff a lot of the scuffs off the rear bumper but it is still pretty messed up. I still gotta get the hatch & bumper painted and install them. Notice how its pushed in a bit...thats actually just because the metal bracket crushed & beam bent. I have a new beam & brackets that will correct that with the new bumper cover.
better shot of the tC rims and lowering. This is NOT the same lowering setup as the photos above. That was stock struts & S-Techs. I blew the front drivers strut in about 2 weeks with that setup & had to buy new ones.SO I bought tokico blues & decided I wanted a more subdued ride so I went with the only progressive-rate springs I could find...the rare Eibach Sportlines. Got them used off someone on MO from Canada. They ride much nicer and the struts are doing great. My buddies tell me you can see the bright-baby-blue from behind the car when following me at night. loox pimp! The tC rims were 200 bux off craigslist. They have the OEM tires on them with a bit of tread left but grip like azz. I will get some better tires this winter sometime after I swap the stockers back on when it starts snowing.
Shot of the interior and no I didn't vacuum it lately. I use this thing as a DD and haul people around at my work all the time for lunch & stuff.Just worth noting..the leather steering wheel, Toyota emblem (my pontiac logo was scratched to hell), new radio and best of all, cucumber-melon air freshener! smells damn good!Oh and not that its noticeable. I removed the seat covers and washed them in my washing machine. Got rid of all the nasty stank & brown crap (i think it was soda spills) and they look brand new now. I did that before I went to Germany & do it with all my cars when I First buy them. Makes a helluva difference & doesn't take a lot of effort.
That is one extremely happy Vibe!Seeing your progress is gettin me pumped about my upcoming stuff.Just got a new job and make $5more an hr so that means MODZ!
lol @ side of house comment. I just had a tree removed literally 2 days ago (oct 30th) and I had them cut a smaller one that was maybe 4" from teh side of the house & was constantly brushing against it.That stupid shed is being removed by somenoe off craigslist later today and then i'm going to have the driveway paved out along the side of the house so I can park project cars there & mess with them.I plan on pressure washing the siding once the shed is gone. And yes it is great to destroy a EK civic, too bad it was stock & driven by some fat retarded woman who broke a rib & her hand while texting with one hand & eating a Double Down with the other.
