Okay, so I think I have read all of the past posts regarding problems with blower motors, resistors, etc. I don't recall reading anything about the blower motor stopping/starting due to vibrations on the road (railroad tracks, potholes). If the blower stops while drivng, I can usually lean over and lightly tap on the dash below the glove box and it will start up again, but when i hit another bump it will stop again. My 04 GT has been doing this for several months now, and it's driving me crazy. I replaced the resistor this past weekend and still have the same problem. I figured it was unlikely to solve the problem, but it was fairly cheap and known for going bad anyway. When I was replacing the resistor, I could tap near or on the motor housing and make it stop or start every time. I did also try to weasel my fingers around to check for any obvious loose connections, but didn't notice any. Does this mean the motor itself is bad or do I have a loose wire somehwere that i couldn't locate??I know this is a long-winded post, but I am at a loss for what to do next. Please help! Thanks,Scott
some people have had that kind of problem before, some of them fixed it by replacing the blower motor, others fixed it by replacing the brushes in the blower motor.
Recently had mine out to clean the fan. I tipped it over and a lot of powderized rust fell out. Had I been able to get both the screws out I would have done a proper cleaning. So I imagine my blower motors days are numbered. Glad you got yours replaced OK. Where did you get the replacement from?
I would agree that your motor's days are probably getting numbered now. As you know, all that rust implies moisture having been in there. I have read of others having that problem. After alot of searching and price comparisons, I bought my motor (Delphi brand) from Amazon.com. They had the best price and free shipping at the time.Changing the motor was much easier than I expected.
