Headlight bulb fail.

Post by ponta2147 »

Well I was extremely excited to see a package waiting for me today when I got home... it was my bulbs for the headlights from suvlights.com... HOWEVER! I opened up the package and, instead of finding 9006/HB4 Philips X-Treme Power bulbs, I found H7 Philips CrystalVision Ultra bulbs... and yes I double checked just now that my order was correct. So, boo, I have to return them. Any better resources than suvlights.com? I'm going to contact them on Monday morning to see if they'll do an exchange for free because this is their stupid error, but if they're jerks about it I'm going to go somewhere else.

Got mine at: bulbs.com (but actually my son is going to school in Worcester, Massachusetts... and he picked both of our xtremes up at their store/headquarters/shipping warehouse.) suvlights should pay the shipping for the exchange... it was their bobble ... not yours.

Well I've sent them an email because their FAQ says to do that before calling, firmly but very politely stating that I got the wrong thing and I want to exchange that and be reimbursed for shipping (which their FAQ also says they will do if they mess up internally). So if I don't hear from them by Tues. morning I'll be calling them.

Just wanted to give everyone an update to this situation! They actually called and emailed me TODAY, which was surprising. They apologized for the error and said that they did not have the ones I was looking for in stock. HOWEVER they were more than happy to accept the return AND they offered what I think was a very nice exchange. They offered to ship me a set of these HIR bulbs instead at no extra charge, which are more expensive: http://suvlights.com/product_i...d=334I'd vaguely read about HIR technology on this site before, and that seems like a pretty dang good deal to me! They also said there might be a slight modification that would have to be done to the plastic on the base to get it to fit in my housing (I told them I had an '09 Vibe and they were familiar with the bulbs it required), but that they would do it themselves in house before they ship it. If they do, that's pretty nice. It probably helped that I told them I'm active on a car forum and I will be able to tell everyone here that they had good customer service and be able to review this product from them. So, I'm off to the post office tomorrow and they'll be shipping the bulbs out to me tomorrow as well, I will post again when they get here!

If that's the case I'll provide detailed writeups (not that I wasn't going to anyway)!

Customer service is something that gets overlooked so much anymore. It's nice to hear that this company actually went the extra mile to make the customer happy. Glad things got settled nicely for you!!

Super exciting update:The HIR bulbs came in today! I still have to install them (may do that this evening before my trip tomorrow) but I wanted to reiterate what great service suvlights.com demonstrated for this issue. As promised, they sent me the bulbs PRE-TRIMMED from their shop (HIR bulbs require one of the plastic tabs to be sanded down slightly) so I didn't have to do any modification!Pics:

New bulbs are IN, boy were those hard to get to. Not gonna do that again on a cold, rainy day, that's for sure! Get to test them out tonight so I'll give a review and post pics if possible (aka if it's not raining). Also pleasantly surprised to notice that the DRLs are actually running off the high beam... I suppose if I would have actually gotten out of my car to look at some point, I would have seen that a while ago.

Yes, the first time you replace them they are a pain. Actually, all the exterior bulbs are a pain to remove the first few times. Yes, the DRLs are in the high beams. You could disable them like I did and than they wouldn't be there at all .Looking forward to seeing pictures. The rain has stopped here, so it should be gone from your area as well.

Awesome! The light is great, even without the fogs, drove through some dark areas and it was very clear, slightly whiter, threw further (didn't adjust the headlights in any way), and actually had a wider throw as well, could see the sides of the road easily which is good in the forest preserves!Just gonna see how long these last, they're supposed to be just as long as stock bulbs. If that's the case I am soooooo spending the $30/bulb that they actually cost to replace them. And I dunno, I like my DRLs. Maybe I'm just being overly-safety-ish, but if it helps people see me better, then I like it.

I installed a new set of Silverstars about three months ago and one is burned out already. I went on line and saw that NAPA sells Phillips, so I think I'm going to give those a try.

And people think Silver Stars are expensive .Yeah, the DRLs are good for being seen easier I guess. I usually drive with my parking lights on though so I guess six of one, half a dozen of another.Quote, originally posted by K NINE »I installed a new set of Silverstars about three months ago and one is burned out already.
