Just picked up an 04 for a commuter car, since my drive distance just tripled. Got her cleaned up and my first tasks will be to work on the cosmetics a bit and then lose the hubcaps for some real wheels...but I'll probably keep rolling deep on 16's for the sake of weight and replacement cost.Anyone know what the stock steelies and hubcaps weigh?
Welcome...West Coast Represent Nice ride... I think there may be a thread on here where somebody weighed the steelies... and through the magic of the interwebs, here it is:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9151
Hey thanks Blanco that is exactly what I was looking for. I am hoping to find a wheel that isn't heavier than the steelie so that I can maintain gas mileage. The search begins...fyi Steel Wheel 23.16 lbs16" Alloy 21.80 lbs17" Alloy 24.20 lbsShipping weight means a bare wheel, no valve, or weights, packaged to ship. I'd estimate 4 ~ 5 lbs of packaging material per wheel.
Yes, welcome to GenVibe, WSV!! Sorry this is so late but I didn't see your original post. Nice looking Vibe and wheels too. Were they used or did you get them new? What rubber are you runnin' with? How are you liking the car so far?Yes, I agree you should do something about the drums and calipers. G2 is an epoxy paint specifically designed for your brake system parts. It's a bit expensive (+/-$50/kit) and not the easiest to use, but has a lifetime warranty against chipping and fading... provided you prep the surface correctly.

Tire Rack is having a sale on these MSW wheels...$69 each + shipping. The rubber is what came on the car, Michelin. I couldn't stand the stock steelies and hubcaps. Cheers!
