Strong exhaust smell inside cabin under hard acceleration...

So I purchased a 2005 Vibe GT back in January and absolutely love it. All I've really done to it is installed a cheap ebay SRI. Not sure if it's normal or not, but when I accelerate hard the smell of exhaust accumulates inside the cabin. It generally goes away after a minute or so back to normal driving. It's usually worse when the blower is on. Also, it seems to be a smelly little car in general, almost like it doesn't have a catalytic converter, but that wouldn't make any sense. It doesn't bother me too much, I just want to know if anyone else's GT or matrix XRS is the same way.
