If I remember correctly you turned it clock wise for the hatch and counter clock wise for the glass... it's been a while since the '06 though.

yep i tried it but when i put it in and try to turn it, it is locked meaning it doesnt turn either way thats why i thought it originally came with 2 keys you know 1 just for the back. I was wondering if there was a lockout feature or something else i can do?

On my 2006 if I turn the key to the right it unlocks the glass and when I turn it to the left it unlocks the entire hatch back. One key for all the locks on mine. If your key does not turn at all maybe you need to squirt in a little lock lubricant.

I didn't understand the issue in your duplicate thread, there I thought the key turned but didn't unlock. Here is sounds like the key won't turn.on any Vibe, there is only one key pattern, same for the ignition, the front doors and the hatch. If your key won't turn the hatch lock, then there'd be two possible causesTHe first, which is less probable, is that for some reason the previous owner replaced the lock in the hatch. Perhaps it was in an accident and they just put a different one on, didn't swap lock cylinders. Seems unlikelyThe second is that you are having a problem others have had, in that the lock is just gunked up. Seems to happen for people with power locks, when they never use the key in the locks, after years stuff accumulates, the lock gets sticky. Try squiriting a bunch of WD-40 into the lock, put the key in and out a few times, try to turn it, srpay some more. (Lather rinse repeat)

While I agree with a gunky lock being a possibility, use a lock lube, not WD40. Overall WD40 creates more problems than it solves. It really isn't good at doing what America thinks it is so good at. It will leave an oily film in your lock, guess what will happen over time? That film will become a gunky mess and not work! The lock lubricant is a dry silicone base that lubes in a dry fashion and isn't a magnet for dirt and gunk.Dave

I've Been working on Mechanical items for nigh unto 50 years. For the multiple things WD 40 is claimed to be able to do, there is another product out there that exceeds WD 40's ability. On topic, Oils in a lock are NOT a good thing, ask any lock smith worth his salt. And about Duct tape, ask the guys who work for me, I'm not a fan. It has it's place but is so misused and over used when there are much better fixes or methods to get a task done. Yes, I WILL slander Duct Tape......Now Gorilla Tape, that's a Zebra of a different stripe! Dave

Ok I played with the hatch on a 2009 last night. If you turn the key to the left it unlocks and to the right it locks. Im really not sure why you would need this cuz the key has an unlock button built in.

Was probably hit in the rear and a junk yard lid was fit on it. They had no key, had auto locks and didn't care if the key worked or not.Dave
