Yea it depends what kind of film you use. I've had tint done ranging from $200 all the way up to $600 for the whole car. There are tint places that charge around $100 or so for the whole car but I don't think those tint will last that long before it starts turning purple and stuff =/

They did a great job plus it comes with a 3 year warranty against peeling, bubbling, scratches, etc.

Make sure they use 3M tint so it doesn't "purple" after 2-3 years. Like most have posted here, plan on $300, more if its peak season, or if you live where its sunny more 200 days/yr.
Where ever you go for tint, make sure you ask them if they wear soft shoes, like sneakers when working on the interior. My last tinter, years ago, must have worn climbing boots with crampons on them and left lots of scratches on the plastic trim on the bottom of the doors and on the doors also. Tell them to please not scratch up the inside of your car.

I made the mistake of going to Car Toys recently to get a quote on a tint. To do only the rear door glass and that little 3/4 window in the back they wanted $170+tax; insane. Guess I'll keep looking...
Tinting, if you get quality materials that don't fade or turn purple or bubble up, will be somewhat expensive. There's cheap stuff out there in the market, that the first time you clean will scratch severely. Get some bids from competitors and then try to work out the best deal possible with that knowledge. Aint gonna be cheap, if you buy a quality (guaranteed) job.

What I am saying is, have you checked with your local Ziebart about the tint yet? Mine only offers 5%, 15% or 35% tint. In other words, if your local Ziebart is the same you will either have to go with 5%, 15% or 35% as they don't offer 30%. Just giving you a heads up.

i understood what you said. i haven't checked yet, but i imagine they might have 30% because of the limit. but i could be wrong. thanks for the heads up though.
I checked with the Ziebart in Fort Wayne and he said he could do 35 on the front and 20 in the back although from what I can tell the law for the back is also 30 in Indiana. Those two levels were the only ones that he offered, so I don't think they do 30.Anyhow, he said he had a special right now and could do my 2010 Vibe for $179.99 (normally $249) and said that runs through next Wednesday. To tell you the truth, it sounded like he was making up this "special" on the fly and was giving me a price that he was hoping would be good enough to get some work. From the other prices that people gave on this thread, it sounds like an offer I will have to take.
ok. 35% is the way i'm going then.and i double checked the tinting laws for indiana, and it's 30% all around. i'm not going to tint it until late summer after i save up some money. and i promise to post pictures!

I had 35% on the front windows and 15% on the rear windows of my Sunfire and I regretted it big time. I was going to have it re-done all 35%, but I ended up selling the car.One % all the way around looks much better. I would say go for 35% all around. It's what I have and I couldn't be happier with it.Quote, originally posted by sgp2012 »ok. 35% is the way i'm going then.and i double checked the tinting laws for indiana, and it's 30% all around. i'm not going to tint it until late summer after i save up some money. and i promise to post pictures! You will be very happy with 35% all around . They said they can do 20% in the back because the Vibe is classified as a MVP (multi purpose vehicle) similar to an SUV, Wagon or Minivan. From what I can tell Indiana law is basically silent on the issue of having different limits for MVP's but I guess it is kind of allowed by law enforcement. Here is a link to good summary of the tint laws by state and it looks like most of the states allow a significantly lower percentage on the rears for Vibes if they are classified as MPV's. http://www.firstcoastglasscoat....html
I paid $150 for 35% on the four doors and 15% on the hatch and the two little windows. Darker in the back keeps light from comin in behind making the whole car look darker from the front of the car. And 35% is the darkest I can go legally on the front four But that said, I'm satisfied with what I got. Check out my garage and see for yourself.

So, where is a good source for some good tint if I want to do it myself? I want high quality, no cheap crap. I'm willing to spend the money because I'll save it in the long run.
I got mine done for $99 using a coupon in a local paper. Got 35% "dye" type tint by Solargard which is a good brand. I researched the brands on tintdude.com which has a forum that is raelly useful. The place I got it done at does good work as far as layying the tint, but they don't prep so I made sure I scrubbed the inside windows & removed the door panels before driving it in, made their life easier & they got the tint well below the gasket so I won't have to worry about it peeling. So far so good, no bubbles or scratches. They did a good job cutting it to size too, iv'e seen some really really bad tintjobs (i used to tint cars) and I'm happy
