Driver's Floor Mat Locator Pins 2004 Vibe

I have a 2004 Pontiac vibe with factory floor mats that I just purchased. I wanted to use the holes that the mat has to keep it from sliding forward. The owner's manual mentions locator hooks, but all I see on the carpet below the mat are two more holes. Are these locator hooks something that is not put in at the factory? Could they be in the bag along with the cargo hooks/ropes that the previous owner never opened? Are they worth installing?Thanks
