I should've gotten a pic today, but was in a rush, plus it took me forever with my belly in the way to get the thing threaded a few times enough to stay screwed into the floor. Are they going to charge me for doing anything since it's off-warranty?
The reason i ask is GM puts an adhesive on the bolts and nuts for securing their belts in the trucks. they also use odd (triangular locking) shaped nuts for securing seats and belts. Another Toyota shortfall?
her car has had a trauma or two, and at one point one of the shops probably took them out, and failed to loctite them on reinstall. Probably had to pull the belts to fix http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=34783HPL, if you don't want to take it back to the shop that loosened them in the first place, it's worth it to have them secure, so you should either take it to another place to get them corrected, or buy a tool and some loctite. Either way, get them all checked out, make sure they are more than hand tight and with some sort of thread locking glue to keep them from working loose again.if it was probaly the result of a non-dealer repair, it wouldn't be covered under dealer warranty

Yes, completely unthreaded for the second time. I reached for the seatbelt yesterday and it came right off. And yes, the thought of those monkeys with crowbars and their shoddy work did enter my mind. Since it happened once before and the dealer hand-tightened it, I'll see what they say...I'll bring up the safety issue and maybe they'll have mercy on me...

Another Toyota shortfall? The adhesive you mention is a thread locker, similar to Loctite. And the nuts are intentionally misshapen triangular to further insure the bolt will not loosen on its own.A little red Loctite and proper torquing should do the trick though.

Id have them check both front seat belts...dont need to find out what happens in a accident with them lose now..+1!!!You're belting up for two so make sure that you're safe, even if it means keeping a wrench on board to check it weekly.

OK, dealer service advisor took care of it for me for free, ratcheted it down tight. Last time the person only hand-tightened it. I'm happy, so I left and returned with a bunch of bakery goods.
