I have seen 2009 Vibes with the front end removed do to a car accident. I am trying to collect any picture online of Vibe accidents.Anyway, I notice that the round flexible air intake duct takes a big loop around from behind the battery then down below and back up to the filter housing. Why? And how come the intake opening is not aimed toward the front of car or outside the engine compartment? To keep the air clearer? Don't you think it should get a large amount of air to keep the enigne more energy efficient?Anyone find out what is the white plastic container or whatever it is deep under the car battery. (2009 2.4L model) ??
the big white container is an air baffle that changes the sound of the intake. its like when you instal a cai you hear alot more intake noise, the containers purpose is to deaden that sound.

Here is a picture of the white container and th flexible air duct looped on top of it.I have the three volume service manual for the 2009 Vibe and did not find anything about the white container. Not even a drawing.
>>>black container is a air pump? No it can't be. An air pump system was used on big engine cars a long time ago, I think to help eliminate engine knock. But maybe it was the cause of engine knock. Just guessing???
