2011 Honda Odyssey Copncept: Best Looking Honda to date?

Post by Whelan »

My opinion is subjective but this new minivan if it is not destroyed before production is to me the best looking Honda to date. It's sleek, not overly done, and is very classy looking for a minivan. The rear looks very Audi-esque.http://gmailfromwork.com

How could the same company that developed the b*tt-ugly design for the Accord Crosstour 'wagon' come up with this quite attractive 'swan'?I'm kinda 'Huh?' about the window kickup before the 'C' pillar. Visually, it belongs above the rear wheels. Like the last generation Accord, it carries too much visual weight around the back end. IMHO it looks like it has a fat *ss. The 'D' pillar has a bit too much similarity to the aforementioned Crosstour. The rear hatch treatment looks more like an attempt to disguise the fact that the actual tailights are quite small, than having any real function. Honda did this kind of 'disguise' thing with huge reflectors across the trunk on the Accord, circa 1990.I wish someone would come up with a smooth new rear end treatment that doesn't involve the rear bumper edge and the trunk/hatch panels going in opposite directions from the beltline down. Almost every car designer is using it.

No matter how it looks, it is still a minivan.

It doesnt look too bad. Im not liking the grille on Hondas lately ( Crosstour & Accord )They are just getting bigger & bigger. Soon it will look like freaking GMC lol. I eventually want to get a Odyssey. A drove in one before & its very comfy & quiet inside !

Not sure what I would consider the best looking Honda ever, but fairly certain this is not one of them. It is more attractive than the crossturd though.Love the rear side window treatment with the way it dips down, makes suzie soccermom feel like she's driving a Genesis coupe.

I like it but would smooth out a few angles - notably the rear window dip down and the tail lights across the back. It seems to draw a lot from the non-U.S. Honda Stream - one of my favorite Honda designs. My favorite Honda design of all time is '86 CRX, followed by the S2000 and then the last gen Prelude.

Seems to have a little junk-in-the-trunk but otherwise it looks..... like a mini-van. It'll get those kids to hockey practice then to Tim Hortons.

looks like if you put to much weight behind the rear wheels and it will pop a wheelie.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I'm leaning toward agreeing with you. That's a darn nice looking minivan. I mentioned to my wife recently that I thought the new Toyota Sienna SE was a nice looking minivan and she looked at me like I had two heads. Of course, all you have to do is remember what the older minivans looked like to realize why there's such a stigma attached in regards to the looks department. I would expect there are very few people that actually thought they looked cool cruising around in this thing.

That Sienna looks pretty good. I knocked minivans until I drove my fiances' 97 Grand Caravan. Dont know till you try it. They are awesome on long trips, better than SUVs, which I always thought ( till this day ) are a waste of space.Saying the Odyssey still looks like a minivan is like saying the Vibe still looks like a wagon. It is a minivan ! Cant hide what it is LOL.

Better looking in person than the picture (I don't care for the angled looking back-end while the front isn't).

Sorry to say, but I share Jeremy Clarkson's views on minivans. Although this does look good. The lines are clean, and oversized headlights work for me. Much better than the Sienna, and less bland than the Caravan. I give Honda props for making the best looking minivan out there, but of course, that isn't really saying anything coming from me. Now, if you ask me, the best looking Honda is either the NSX, Insight, Insight II, or 1980s Civic.

I bought my first minivan - a Plymouth Grand Voyager in 1987 - that was the first year of the larger version. Kept that a long time - only problems were a broken motor mount and a cruise control repair. In 1996, which was the first major redesign I bought a short wheelbase Voyager as then it was just the two of us; traded that in on an identical 1998 because the deal was too good to pass up. My son is still driving that one - over 200,000 miles. No major issues. In 2004 bought a short wheel base Chrysler T&C, and an identical one in 2007 as that was the last year or the short wheel base, and the price was right ($15,500). In January we were in Florida and rented a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I was really impressed. There are some really good deals on those now but I don't need or want anything that big and my '07 only has about 12,000 miles. Bottom line - I don't care how it looks on the outside, I live on the inside and a minivan is a lot more practical than any SUV.

I miss having a mini van - either Honda or Toyota would be my choice. Will never own a Chrysler product again - utter junk. Now here is an ugly duckling - the new Quest. Must be the French influence
