Sorry, but another new guy stereo wiring harness questions

Post by hipeman »

Total newbie question, I know, but I did alot of seaching on this site and I'm just not finding what I'm looking for. Or I did and just didn't know it.I just got my '06 Vibe and thought that the sony that I had Circuit city install in my old '99 Sunfire would come right out of that and plug right into my Vibe. Both Pontiacs, right? My dash kit fits, but the antenna plug is too small, so I understand that I need to find an adapter for that. But what kind of wiring harness will hook up my sony to my Vibe? Will any old GM harness work or do I need a Toyota harness? are they one size fits all or what? are they plugged on both ends or do I have to do some splicing?

Go to walmart or best buy. Look on packaging for pontiac vibe. It is likely the '92+ universal GM harness. If you have the moon & Tunes pack, you also will need a schosche fai-3 sold at walmart, or a pac-oem2 sold online.

It is a GM harness that you need from Metra Electrnics -70-2003 AAMP of America (Stinger) - BHA-2003Scosche - GM-05BAll colors will match color to color on the aftermarket harness and the Sony harness be sure to visit the radio install threads to in the forum. If you still have the antenna adapter from the Sunfire it will work with the Vibe.It is strange that the installation kit from the Sunfire works in the Vibe The Sunfire should have been a 1.5 din dash and the Vibe is a 2 din dash. How did you get the dash kit from the Sunfire to work with the Vibe?Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

Thanks audiovibe. you're alot more help than these crooks I just talked to at best buy. they didn't have anything in stock that was '06 vibe compatible, so they 'looked it up' and said that the GM harness I need is $110?!? for my basic, run of the mill, no"moon&tunes" Vibe!they're full of cr*p, right? I think I'll try your idea first.
