Ordered a new HU

Post by bigdaddyjosh »

Well, I ordered a new double din HU for my 09Vibe. I got a Clarion NX409 NAV/DVD system along with the GM onstar harness. I was thinking of either getting some FOCAL components or these DIAMOND D6 components I saw in a store the other day. It should ship tomorrow and arrive later this week. Are there any walkthroughs with pics on here for the 09Vibe? And if not should I do a write up of the install process? I may decide to have it professionally installed due to the fact that I need to run the GPS cable and I will need a DVD brake bypass installed....Got it installed here are some pics. I freaking love this thing!!!

I don't believe anyone has done a walk through on the 09+ vibes yet. There might be something on Matrixowners.com but I am unsure. If you have ever ran an RCA cable that is all that is involved in the running of a GPS cable, only difference is you need to poke through a boot to get the cable to the outside. You can run the cable under the weather stripping but you kink the cable pretty severely which could damage the cable in the long run. The break bypass is an easy fix on the clarion as well. You can use a toggle switch run the parking brake wire to the toggle switch and run the other end of the toggle switch to ground. when you want video just flip the toggle up. Alot of radios you can just ground the parking brake wire but clarions needs to see the parking brake wire circuit complete when the radio is on. That is how the older Clarions were an I don't think they would have switched it, but good news is it is nothing like the Alpine bypass.Just a FYI it is Illegal to watch video while the car is in motion, my method should only be used to substitute the parking brake ground.Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

I decided to have it professionally done. Though I attempted to do it myself I eventually got pissed off and thought i might break something. So I stopped and had it installed this morning. The shop also installed a bypass. Ill post a pic of that tomorrow, along with the USB cable run. Id have to say my fave feature is full Iphone integration. Basically I just hook my iphone to it and i can browse the iphones music files on the HU's touchscreen.

Looks cool. Can it tie in with the Vibe's existing XM antenna and GPS antennas for well satellite radio and GPS signals? I have enough aerials on the roof of as it is (thanks GM) I'd prefer if I didn't need more.

That depends on if sirous uses the onstar antenna i guess. I had it installed with GM adaptor so onstar features could still be used. Can sirous be tied in to that?As far as an extra antenna here where mine is..
