doing it this spring, I've read up extensively on it and have heard nothing but good things. If you search for "brass" or "bushings" here you'll find a few threads on it. Installation is supposed to be a breeze, even easier if you can lift the car and do it from beneath. From above, you need to either have really small, nimble hands or you need to remove the cruise control module to gain access. When I rebuilt my driver's side brake caliper I had the wheel off and the car up on jacks. Noticed at the time that you could also pretty easily access the shifter bushings just past the wheel well. In theory, you just pop the cotter pins out, pull off the old, worn rubber bushings and circlips, and replace them with the brass. Probably a good idea to get new cotter pins as well. It's also recommended, while you're in there, to remove the whole shifter arm and clean all the grunge off it. Re-install and lube the heck out of everything with white lithium grease or wd-40 or whatever you have. The whole thing is supposed to give you a much more "positive" mechanical feel to your shifting. "Night and day", I'm told. I've had these bushings in the back of the car for a year now, just haven't had time to get in there and do it. If you do, take pictures and post 'em up!

Thanks Herb. What did they do for the shifter solidity/stability and action? Would you do it again?Have you had any issues with these or done anything else to tighten up the shifter? (e.g. shifter mount bushings, etc.)edit: Why do they include sandpaper in the kit? As you must know, there are no instruction sheets, suggestions or hints included.

The sandpaper is to scrub the grit off from around the little posts that the push the bushings on to. There's a good bit of crud that gets kicked up there. Another note (something I plan to do, and why I mentioned getting new pins above), I read one person's post who said that one of the cotter pins popped off after being re-used (instead of replaced). and left the guy on the side of the road. It's probably worth it to get one or two extras and keep them in the car somewhere.

Here's a link to another thread here on Genvibe about the same thing. On page 2, theres a great PDF link to the installation guide. http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=2

Thanks!! I just read through the whole thing. I'm glad it wasn't that long.I wouldn't have started this thread if I had known about that one, but the search function didn't find it. Sorry 'bout that.Mods, if you would merge and edit this thread into that one....?

I just bought brass bushings off ebay and they came with no instructions. Anyone have the pictures from this thread or the pdf from the link from before they were wiped off? Or another installation guide? Wasn't having much luck searching for it on my own.
