deadening, hu and speakers in '10 base

Post by tlw00dy »

Happy New Year, All!Just thought I'd post here to say what I'm installing over the weekend. This site has been super helpful and I"m grateful for all of you that share your experiences and knowledge.Head unit: Pioneer DEH P7100BThttp://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlWith these accessories:Metra 99-8224Single DIN Installation Dash Kit for 2009 Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibehttp://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlMetra 40-CR10Antenna to Radio Adapter Cable for Select 2002-up Chryslerhttp://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlMetra 70-2105Wiring Harness for 2007 Chevrolet Impala/Pontiac G3http://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlI'm aware that the Onstar and XM will no longer work after theinstall. That's ok, they were about to expire anyway. And these speakers:Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Silver)http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Aud...0PF9GHere is the sound deadening material and installation instructions. Igot the RAAMmat BXT II and the Ensolite IUO Peal and Stick. Thevehicle in the instructions is actually a Pontiac Vibe!http://www.raamaudio.com/index...id=56This is a super helpful thread on installing the deadening:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=39155Note that according to the raamaudio instructions, I shouldn't needthe roller with that product. Also, I talked to the owner of theRaamaudio product. He said that I only need to cover about 25% of apanel with the RaamMat product for it to be effective. Other sitessaid the same thing. But, I need to put the Ensolite over the entirepanel. Here is a thread showing very thorough instructions for the speakers.Note the special treatment for the front speakers. You have to becareful to mount them correctly or the window won't close!http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785Here is a thread about somebody installing the very same speakers in his Vibe...http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=38561Here's a thread showing step by step instructions for a head unitinstall in a Vibe (older model though)...http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=30794Wish me luck! I"m having someone else do most of the work while I go to the in-laws for a late xmas party. I don't know what I'm doing anyway.
