Condensation in Headlights on 2009 Vibe

Post by ou.grizzly »

I have it in both headlights and only when the headlights are ON does this occur, not when sitting overnight while cooling off (which is when this normall happens from my understanding).Weird.

hmm is it humid where you're at? my headlights fogged up like yours a couple months back. i was washing my car in the early morning when it was cool and then when the sun came out and warmed up both headlights had some condensation inside. after half hour or so it went away. but my lights were opened before so i thought that was the case. maybe you can take yours to dealer or add more sealant?

I hate to take it in for service, but I have no choice. I will more than likely take it in, print out the pictures to them, let them know what is going on, and hoping they can order new headlights and call me when they come in.

What did the dealership that you just took it to do?

Per the TSB, it should dry when the lights are onI told him I will be seeking a second opinion. As I told him, it happens when it is in low humidity, not raining, and I get condensation only when the lights are on!Later that hour, I went to another dealer where I go for my $14.00 oil changes. They kept the vehicle and actually looked at it for two days. Did some tests (something about infrared or something). They called GM, tech support, and the regional red I guess; they decided to order two new assemblies. The headlight assemblies should be in sometime next week.

I've received that same "normal" response from GM before. Apparently, it was completely normal to have water standing in both headlights and fog lights on that Malibu I once owned. Glad they're doing the right thing and replacing them.

interesting that it's considered normal =/ i highly doubt it's normal. whenever it fogs up it might leave water marks inside the headlight and eventually might become hazy. but glad they're replacing them will you get to keep the old lights?

You should NEVER have water or moisture inside your headlights. It has a small crack or air leak somewhere..good to see that they are changing them for you.

It was like driving in fog. The lights did unfog but took quite awhile and as soon as the car was shut off again it fogged again.
