In need of some help

Post by ShotInTheDark »

Many people that frequent this website know me well. I am writing this from my parents house in Baltimore Maryland. I am here to visit for the holiday but it is not under the usual circumstances. Monday of this week my father was rushed to the hospital. He had a extreme nosebleed, trouble breathing, a fever and a rash. Untill today even the infectious disease doctors at Johns Hopkins were stumped. At 11pm tonight he was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis which is a rare tick borne disease. Very simalar to lyme diseas but much more often fatal. The leading doctor in the field of that disease is on sabatical in france and has been responding by email all evening to the doctors here. But the next 72 hours will decide my fathers fate. So I ask you here and now, regardless of religious belief, to please out of heart felt kindness take a moment, speak to whoever your religious background dictates. I am an only child in a very small family and I consider many of you friends. It is that reason why I ask this. Prayer only works if you believe. A million voices are stronger then one.

I will do this for you. I hope your father gets well, and that you can keep your nerves. God bless

I just got back in from the hospital since the visitation hours for Cardio intensive care are very limited. Aparently this disease cause the heart to become inflamed and also subjects it and the lungs to infection. Things are better then they were yesterday but from from great. They have taken him off of oxygen but are prepareing to do a heart biopsy to see if there will be any permanant damage to his heart. He is to weak to even raise either of his arms or get out of bed. They expect him to have to stay there a minimum of 2 weeks.
