I just installed my first radio after much research. I learned alot from here and read/searched many posts. It took me a few months to do this but I am happy how it turned out. I also painted the trim since they were flacking off. These are the references which helped me during the process.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... ?id=785Now I need to know how to add more bass. The rears are real weak in the bass. Can I just replace the rears with any speakers since I have the stock amp? Also considering that the stock are 2 ohms and afters are 4 ohms. I have no idea what that means but I know they are not compatible. I can't find clear info on this.
There are aftermarket companies that make 2 ohm speakers. Ohms measures resistance, so basically, the stock speakers put less resistance on the actual wattage being supplied. If you buy 4 ohm speakers I have heard they will not be as loud because the 2 ohm signal trying to power something that is giving it 4 ohms of resistance results in lower volume. This is how I understand it anyway.

Hi and welcome to GV...!!So it took you a few months to install that HU... Man, I thought my install was going slow.... lol... Really though, looks good... Now, AFA just dropping in aftermarket speakers, yes you can... BUT, as L5K eluded to, you might not get what you expect.. Being that the stock speakers are 2ohm, you will get roughly half the power at 4ohm (it's a half/double relationship) Will that be an issue, hard to say, I'm sure others hear have done it... Personally, I would nix the stock amp and speakers completely.. The new HU might have more power..lol.. BUt it wouldn't be that difficult, and if you where willing to add an aftermarket amp, you could really get things movin...
Nice...I just pulled the XG500 out of my civic and am going to put it in the Vibe. I figured it would look good in there and now I know it does. Thanks for the pics.
I just order some Infinity Reference speakers from ebay. ALso my Infinity Basslink came in. Ill be installing it over the weekend. Wish this noob good luck.
I installed the basslink and it sounds great. I couldn't be happier. Nice full bass that covers the interior well.I also just installed the drivers side speaker and man am I disappointed. This speaker sound worse the stock. It cant handle the bass at all. It has no bass and when pushed the speaker distorts the so called bass. It does sound clearer though. I also tried changing setting but still no good. I'm sticking with one of each just to have the clear one and a good bass up front.Other than that im very pleased with the job I did and the overall sound.
