Here's what Honda should have done instead of that fugly Crosstour

Post by Kincaid »

Honda Stream It seats six in three rows. I so wanted this car. They kept teasing, saying it was rumored to come here. I don't think it's ever going to make it.Sigh.

Looks better then the crosstour. It's a sane desing with practicality and it's not too bad on the eyes (for a Honda...) Of course they're not going to bring it over here!

Would that fit into the more quirky 5 door not quite a full size mini-van market. Something similar to the Mazda 5? If so that would be a great place for Honda to work itself into, especially with a good design like that. Not too funky but still classy looking.I still say the mainstreamers need to get back to making good wagons. All the luxury brands do (mostly). BMW has them, Audi has them, Volvo is renowned for their's. And MB of course. Me, I have become quite fond of 5 doors and wagons.

If you like this segment, the Chevrolet Orlando is coming! I believe it may be my next vehicle as I like this segment for its practicality!

I like the Orlando. Sadly, it's coming too late for me. They better hope that Kia doesn't import the diesel Rondo because if they do, that's the direction I'll be going.

I agree we need more wagons. Even more than we need more wagons, we need more straight up old school hatchbacks.

The Kia Rondo is a joke IMO. I've been next to them plenty of times in my Matrix, they ooze cheapness and look like they would crumple like tin cans if hit. At least our cars look solid.

I have driven both the Matrix and the Rondo. Trust me, the Rondo is much more solid.......and let's not even get on the subject of road and engine noise. At least our cars look solid.Actually when comparing to your vintage of Matrix, the Rondo is a safer place to be during a crash. Especially if you don't have the optional side air bags in the Matrix and get T-boned. It's funny how people will just completely write off something because it's a Kia or Hyundai without ever taking a closer look. That's alright though, those of us willing to give them a try get every bit as good of a car as your precious Honyotas but without the bloated price tag. Anyway, that Honda is much better than the crossturd but I'd still rather have a Rondo.

Yeah, the outside is kind of funky looking. BUT the inside is sweet!I think the color of the gauges in the Rondo are horrendous! Orange, really? Reminds me of the 70's or something.

What's funny is I don't turn away from Hyundai even though they are similar and use platforms and engines. As for the orange gauges, BMW is signature for it's Orange coloring. My 02 Civic Coupe had it.The 2.7L V6 I have played with when I had a loaner Kia Sportage with 4WD and the 2.7, I was not impressed. For a V6 it was very buzzy and felt like it had no torque. As the Rondo may be safe and no I have not driven or been inside one, my opinion is purely subjective on the car. Mainly because after seeing the bubbly frilly commercials for it with rainbows and all I was totally turned off, not appealing in the least. It reminded me almost of the new Prius commercial out there. The headlights are also too bulboud for my liking. See purely subjective on my likes and dislikes. So moving along, I have no factual evidence on the Rondo, just that I know personally I wouldn't go look at one as it does not appeal to me in the least. And not having AWD automatically strikes it from my list.

Agreed, the Rondo won't win any beauty contests, that's for sure....but if you want a car that has more hip room, shoulder room, more total cargo area, safer, better warranty, more passenger capacity, quieter, more powerful engine, etc., it wouldn't hurt to take the Rondo for a test drive. p.s. I can't see the exterior from the inside anyway.

Not too funky but still classy looking. The Stream is a bit longer than the Mazda 5 and has a bit lower roofline - but it would be the main competition. As for the Rondo, I liked it well enough but would pick the Mazda 5 over it. Funny thing about the 5 is that Mazda was ready to kill it but then when gas was $4/gal (was that the spring/summer of 2008?) they decided to keep it around because it suddenly was a hot seller.

The Crosstour? Yes. The Stream? No. It is similar to the Mazda 5, which is built on the Mazda 3 platform.
