My wife and I have a 04 1.8l pontiac vibe who has been dear to us (120,000miles). We've noticed a dragging/grinding sound coming from the front end lately. It occurs whenever the car is in drive and we are moving. At first I assumed it was front brakes, and changed (3rd set). Also replaced rotors as they needed it. Noise was gone for day or 2, but now it is back. Thought the brake pads weren't seated properly, so reseated and lubed pressure points, but the sound is still there. Is it possible the front caliper(s) are making the noise? Is there any way to troubleshoot to find out where the noise is coming from? i.e., bearings, cv joint(s) etc. With the wheels off, I actually jacked up the front end, put into drive () and was able to stop (by slight hand pressure) the rotating rotor (dont ask me why i tried...). Seems odd that I was able to do that on both sides...Anyway, with the wheels off, I still wasnt able to isolate the noise/ problem. Any suggestions are extremely welcomed!!! Thanks tons,Mike

Grab the wheel from the top and bottom and try to rock it back and forth, that will indicate a bad wheel bearing
Rocked away and no play/movement at all. Did do a bit more with it jacked up. Ran in drive again and listened next to each wheel---barely any noise at all but inside the car, the noise is relatively loud. I have no idea what this could be...Thanks again guys for your input
