fuse blowing

Post by Gilli »

Hi, new here. Love all the information that is shared. I have a proble with a 2004 Vibe that after a new stereo was installed the fuse for the tail lights blow as soon as the switch is turned on. I still have brake lights and all other lights work. I replaced both bulbs and still have the problem. Took it back to the stereo shop and they said there is nothing pinched. If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it so much.

The tail fuse also provides illumination voltage for the stereo. Given your description that the problem happens ever since the new stereo install, I'd blame it on the stereo install. It sounds like the illumination is shorted to ground. That could be from a pinched wire, or maybe they just wired the thing up wrong.I know if I hooked up a new stereo on my car and then right away tail fuse consistently blew after doing that, I'd take it as fact that the new stereo install caused the problem.
