But that Bel Air was a pretty nice car! I wonder, if everybody drove cars like that now, would we take defensive driving more seriously??? Show your kids this video and make sure that their first car is something old and less bulletproof! Toss them their blackberry and car keys and happy texting/driving!But in all seriousness, car safety has come a long way, too bad drivers training (and re-training) is still quite lacking!
There is a whole study / theory that the safer cars are made, the human mind is then lulled into believing that it is safer and people will drive more recklessly and take chances not taken before hand. The theory goes on to state that this mindset has done a lot to offset the advances in safety made to cars.Hence cars are a LOT safer but look around you on any major highway and take note of the disregard for speed and safe driving practices.Goggle the "Peltzman effect"Dave

It's all BS..... I'll tell you why... Make cars safer and people get DUMBER.... Place a metal spike in the center of the steering wheels and problem solved..... Could have saved the American public COUNTLESS BILLIONS in car safety... Who's going to get into a accident with a metal spike staring them in the face... ? (sure accidents will still happen, but I can tell you right now, they would be VERY few)The logic doesn't compute.. lol..
