What maintenance needs to be done to the real wheel spindles?

Post by burrpenick »

113 k miles and they spin fine, no play or noise. Eo they come off from the back side? Is the bearing/race serviceable? My rear shoes have 113k miles and are only worn about half? Is this normal? THey seem to be stopping fine? I;ve tried ajusting them using the e brake and even a bit manually, there is some drag......so I thought they were OK.George in Tallahassee FL.

I had my front brakes replaced again a few months back. After inspecting I was told that the rear drums on the Matrix/Vibe are really quite durable and at 100k nothing had to be done to them as they were in great shape.

Quote, originally posted by burrpenick » Is the bearing/race serviceable? If you have the time you can take the inner part with the cage and rolling elements and clean all the old grease out of them with solvent. Dry them off then re-pack them with grease. If it's pitted, coroded, worn uneven or damaged the it would be advisable to replace the bearing.
