vent drainage pipe

Post by fortows »

hello i just recently started hearing a noise coming from my glove box area it was sort of a vibrating noise. anyhow i then noticed my passenger floor mat was wet. so i then assumed there was a clog in my airvent drainage pipe so i puled it back though the firewall and fed a soft wire up into it which in turn released about 1 liter of water! unfortunately the sound is still persistent. It only occurs when i have the fan on and usually when im going around corners, accelerating or braking. i think it must have something to do with the drainage pipe any ideas or similar problems?

The common cause for a wet front passenger floor is for the HVAC drain to become disconnected, and then any condensation from the AC drips on to the front passenger floor. I think some with that hose disconnected have mentioned an odd sound. There was a pic here somewhere I can't find that showed the AC drain hose, it's in the front left corner of the front passenger footwell, you have to pull the carpet back to see. What year Vibe do you have, and welcome to genvibe

Mine was clogged and filled the whole cavity, then when I turned left it would spill over in the squirrel cage blower housing next to it. It made a noise like a powersteering belt squeal or a bad bearing. Removed it, rodded it out with a clotheshanger and all is well. Junk may have entered when I changed the cabin filter without first vacuuming off the top and then I may have had the cabin filter in crooked causing ground up leaves into the area. I notice it is still draining out the hose long after I park so it works but still needs further cleaning.
