Quality Amp for this set up?

Post by Blanco_Diablo »

Need some audio advice...I have been PMing Siblimewind to death so I though I would give him a break Looking to go active (at least I think I want to) from my Alpine IDA-X305 HU with Imprint. Going to buy some Pioneer PRS 720 Components for the front doors and a quality amp to begin my venture into the world of car audio. Eventually I will buy a sub to round out the lows, and some cheap rear speakers for fill. Would like to avoid having to buy a cap or upgrade my alternator...but I'm a noob so not sure if that is inevitable. As for the amp, specifically to power the Pioneer comps, should I go 2 Channel or 4 Channel? What should I look for as far as Watts and RMS specifically for these speakers? Leaning towards an amp that could fit under the front seat, but open to suggestions.Aiming for approx $300 max. Not trying to win any competitions but do want quality sound. Also, which is a better investment class A/B vs. class D (ie Alpine PDX) from an SQ perspective?Help me figure this out. Thanks all.

If you are planning active, you need at least 4ch of amp... 2ch for the mids, 2ch for the tweets.. The kicker here is there will be almost ZERO gain on the tweeter channels, as they need very little power to get loud... you may use some gain on the Mids.. (or the installer will)As the speaker gets smaller, it requires less power to do the job (it moves less) This is why subs take 500-5000w, mids 50-500w and tweeter 5-50w.. Cheers.. PS: no worries on the PM/IMs, I do this a LOT on other forums..

I did a ton of research on amps, and for the money it seemed like the best choice was to buy a new KS 300.4 from a local authorized dealer Also have some Hertz HSK 165 comps arriving via UPS next week. I will take pics once it all gets here. Thanks all!
