Cruise Control Interaction with Deceleration Fuel Cutoff

Was trying to decipher this article to see if it applies to the Vibe with its Toyota designed engine (not GM like this article applies). Using cruise on downgrades the cruise control wouldn't interfere by metering in fuel? I'd be inclined to cancel cruise going up or down hill depending on the grade to make sure Im going economically at the expense of a little driver wear and tear.http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20080306669

I regularly drive on severe inclines and declines while on the freeway with speed limits of 75 mph. I almost always use the cruise control going down, and most of the time going up. This is 3,000 vertical feet in approx 50 miles.
