missing rear headrests

Post by Lindsie »

I just bought a 2009 vibe and noticed that it is missing all 3 rear head rests. The dealership said they would call the previous owner but I haven't heard anything back yet. I called the parts dept. and they want $450 for new head rests. OUCH! I've searched around the internet without any luck. Does any one have any other ideas where I could find them for less?

did you check the storage compartment in the rear... they may be under the hatch... Tell the dealership the headrests are safety items and if they can't provide them, they should take the car back.. Welcome to GV BTW...!!

If the 2009 Vibe is still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, the dealer should of never allowed the sale of that vehicle without the head restraints. That is a safety item to reduce injury; same category as a seat belt and air bag...Need to contact the dealer and tell them this as they are liable...

My conundrum is somewhat similar, although my Vibe is a bit older (2003). I'm having a bit of a time finding "Vibe" read headrests. Would a Matrix rear headrest do the job? My friend has a Matrix of similar vintage, and the interior doesn't seem to be different at all. Just want to know if there are any "hidden differences".

Oddly enough, my '06 Vibe is missing a rear headrest. I have absolutely NO idea what happened to it, though. I bought it new, it was there when I bought it, and I've never taken the head rests off for anything. Never even had anyone in the backseat of the car, actually. Either way, one of them disappeared. I noticed it about a year ago, but decided it could stay missing, once I got a replacement price. lol. Maybe someone else lost theirs, and thought my unlocked Vibe would be cheaper than the dealer.

I think I have the headrest to my 2004 vibe still laying around here somewhere. I will look tonight. If I find them, I don't need them any more and could let you have them

that is a safety issue IMO they shouldnt be able to sell the vehicle without them but I could be wrong, especially if its under warranty, you have an accident and whoevers sitting in the back necks going to hyper extend possibly causing severe injury/paralysis, and you wont be able to go after GM cuz theyre going to say where are the headrests we designed to keep that from happeningheres a quick safety page i found on headrests...http://www.garageboy.com/fahrt/headrest.html
