intalling 2 amps and 2 10" woofers with stock HU and moon and tunes

Post by qualm »

Hello, I have been reading here trying to find an answer to a question, I am sure that it is here but I have not been able to locate it. I wish to replace the stock moon and tunes 200w amp with another amp. Then install 2 10" subwoofers, in a box, with it's own amp all while keeping the stock head unit. I was going to accomplish this by using a high to low converter under the passenger seat where the wires come into the amp and using the existing speaker wires and just plugging them into my new amp. The new amp that I wish to install has an RCA output so I would just run an RCA cable from the first amp to the second amp and key on power from the high to low converter. Will this work? Which of the plugs on the stock amp is from the stereo in to the amp and which is from the amp to the speakers? Is there a wiring diagram for the amp in and outs? Thanks, qualm

I have been trying to read this diagram here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...o.gifEverything on it seems to match up except for right rear speakers it says that it should be connector 1 b1 and b2 white and red respectively, but the wires are not. The wires in this location are blue and green respectively. The white and red are in locations a10 and a9 respectively.qualm

Can you find all of the other wires listed, in the harness?? If so, use the process of elimination to find your wires.. You should be able to easily do what you are saying, using a LOC (line output converter) Many amps have speaker level inputs, so buying a LOC may not be needed... something to consider.. Sounds like a solid plan.. but if you lay it out for me, I may be able to help you both save some money and get better quality products for the SAME money.. Do you have the amps already? wiring? subs? I do this a LOT... lol... EDIT: crap, I always forget.... Welcome to GenVibe..!!

Yes I can find all the wires listed in the harness. I printed out that gif that I posted below and checked all the wires according to pin location. Like I stated the red and white wires are in the wrong location, but I am sure that they are the ones that I need. The Red and White wires were the only ones that were not in the correct spot according to the wiring gif I liked to. I thought that I needed the LOC to get RCA cables to plug into the amp, is this not true?I already have the subs and amps from a previous car, but thanks for the offer. If I need anything else I'll hit you up for sure. I just need to make the swap and was researching wiring so that I will have less trouble switching stuff around. I got an alright deal on some Eclipse subs a few years ago at Car Toys they were 50% off and buy one get one. It was an end of the year model closeout. The speakers are not that bad for like 150$ for 2 10" at 300w RMS a piece. I probably got worked over on the amp though. Qualm

Right on... You usually DO need a LOC, IF your amp doesn't have "speaker leve" inputs, some do, some don't... If yours don't then yeah.. What are you wiring everything up with? left-over wire? If not, check the Kicker wiring kits, there awesome.. Good luck..!
