2009/2010 Manual Transmission Question
Hey,I want to throw this one out there and see if maybe any of you have any feedback. I just got my new 09, with the 2.4 and a manual transmission and I've been noticing that when starting out in first gear from a stop, the clutch doesn't want to grab smoothly, it really slips and bucks a few times. I know the first impression is that maybe it's me, but I just don't think so. My other car is an 03 stick vibe and I've never had that at all. Yes, the transmissions and clutches feel quite different, and I'm not thrilled with the long clutch travel, though I'm sure I'll get used to it. I am an excellent stick driver, I've owned several other stick vehicles. I'm thinking that maybe it's just the clutch breaking in? Could that be it, or should I bring it back to the dealer. Perhaps any of you out there with an 09 or a '10 with a stick would be kind enough to let me know of your experiences.

When I took delivery of my car I had the dealer adjust the clutch to where I wanted as one of the pre-delivery conditions. Clutch engages and releases about 1.5"-2" off the floor now. There seems to be a lot of DBW throttle lag in the '09-'10 than with the older models that makes it more difficult to speed match the RPMs for the clutch to engage smoothly. The lag seems to be the worse just off idle. I don't know how many times I stalled or bucked the car from a stop or over reved it shifting gears. I've been beta testing an aftermarket throttle controller module to get rid of the digital delay so the throttle pedal acts so more like a conventional cable throttle for an aftermarket parts manufacture. So far works great that only real problem now is that it requires DoT to decide where it is a device that required their safety testing or if it is not a critical safety issue if the module should fail.

That DBW lag is a pain.When you're breaking in the car, DRIVE THE ____ (4 letter explitive) out of it. Drive it like you stole it!!
