intake manifold cleaning

I took off the IM and the rad fan so I could keep the skin on my knuckles taking the starter off. I'm glad I did because it could use a good wash. Are there any restrictions on what I can use to clean it?

I would think simple brake cleaner/ carb cleaner and a good drying would be sufficient. I have a friend who cleaned 1 lb of garbage out of his VW TDI intake with brake clean and air dried it for some time, he used around 3-4 cans of the stuff. Just clean it/dry it thoroughly, if theres any debris in there that you don't get out, it might wind up in your valves, just be thorough.cheers.
